Megaman 8

For anyone familiar with my channel at all, they would know to some degree or another, Megaman is a huge piece of my gaming history. I unfortunately didn't grow up with the original series. Most of my childhood was with the X games (X2 is definitely my favorite). My first exposure to the original series was Megaman 7. The only time I ever saw that game out in the wild was at the grocery store rental store I mentioned in my Smash Bros. N64 "review." When we saw it, of course we rented it. After our rental period was up, my brother tried to buy the game outright, but they unfortunately wouldn't/couldn't sell it to him.
But now that we got that preamble out of the way, let's put this discussion to the side and talk about the game we're actually here to discuss. Mega Man 8 is the exact opposite of 7. You couldn't walk into any store without practically tripping over the extra copies they had. With that being said, though, we did finally buy it for the PS1 (I never knew anyone with a Saturn), played it, and it was okay. It tried to be edgy and tell a darker story; however, it was hard to take seriously with the "voice acting" they implemented, where Dr. Light sounds like Elmer Fudd and MegaMan sounds like he's constantly huffing helium, but it makes for unintentional humor (almost as ridiculous as Shenmue). On the gameplay axis, though, there's a decent game here, with solid music, the stages have some charm, and the bosses are more on the easy side. Overall, the game is not amazing but fun; it's a game I enjoy and would recommend. Buy the Legacy Collection if you do; I think you'll have a good time.
